About Hymns
This is a fanfiction that was originally made as an interpretation of BatIM, while the game was waiting on the chapter 4 update. After the update, I made it my own full blown AU :)
The overall story is about a woman named Francine that ends up both mirroring Henry and opposing him as she meets the same people he did about fifty years prior. Where Henry defined surviving as getting out as fast as he can, Francine defines surviving as understanding the people she’s stuck with. Stuck with Sammy as a failed sacrifice, both she and him reluctantly discover what the studio used to be. But is empathy really the kindest thing one can have in a place like this…?
The series explores Sammy’s sense of faith, Alice’s sense of identity, Norman’s sense of autonomy, and the dynamic between how Francine has empathy for the monsters and how Joey loved everyone in the studio to shreds. It does have a plot twist that even if you predict it, I hope you still enjoy because I definitely enjoyed writing it. And I would describe the vibe of the story as going from being written kind of like religious text into being written like a fairy tale, as we get to know Joey and the demon he created more and more.
This story is very personal and created for myself, but I'm overjoyed to share it and it means the world to me that others have enjoyed and saw themselves in my fic as well <3
